Anshul Kamboj, the 23-year-old bowler from Haryana, has become only the third cricketer in the history of Ranji Trophy to take all 10 wickets in an innings. He returned amazing figures of 10 for 49 from 30.1 overs versus Kerala in Rohtak.
The young pace bowler had taken eight wickets on the previous day. On day 3, he dismissed Basil Thampi and completed the glittering milestone by removing Shoun Roger, helping his side to bundle out Kerala for 291 in the first innings. In the process, he also took his 50th first-class wicket in his 19th game.
Premangsu Mohan Chatterjee and Pardeep Sunderam are the other two bowlers to achieve the feat in the Ranji Trophy. Chatterjee achieved the landmark in 1956-57 for Bengal. On the other hand, Sunderam bagged all 10 wickets in an innings for Rajasthan against Vidarbha in the 1985-86 season.
Kamboj is also the sixth Indian bowler to pick up all 10 scalps in first-class cricket. Anil Kumble and Subhash Gupte, the two leg-spinners, and Debasis Mohanty, are the other three cricketers to achieve the feat. Recently, in the Duleep Trophy, he had also showed his potential, taking 8 for 69 versus India B.
Incidentally, when Haryana won the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the first time in 2023-24, Kamboj had ended up with a rich haul of 17 wickets. The seamer has also played three games for Mumbai Indians.
